I’m really sorry
about what happened to this guy but this is the real-world shit that happens when income disparity becomes so cartoonish that we stop even thinking that it’s real; we watch “experts” on tv wax poetic about connecting political dots blah blah blah but eventually you will push people to snap. Fucking health insurance of course is a particularly easy industry to imagine someone being pushed into desperation when the money these places make - the first blurb I heard about the guy this morning didn't have any info on him but included that UHC had made almost $400B in profits last year - is rubbed in the faces of people LITERALLY dying because of their greed.
I'm not a rah-rah guy, I'm not a "burn it all down!" guy so I'm not dumb enough to dream this will result in a major upheaval of a system that is so dangerous to the very people who prop it up as much as it will just mean rich people getting more security and then somehow making the rest of us pay for it.
But while I wanna remember the guy was a human being and again, I'm sorry he died, this is the first thing I thought of when I heard about it this morning:
“Drive him fast to his tomb. This, from Jacques.”
