CALLING DR. XMASTIME, Genius Script Doctor

Charlie's line here at the end, "I was so close", is a really good line for the character. It reminds the audience that Charlie’s an absolute lunatic stalker when it comes to the Waitress and is funny, certainly deserving of any laughs it gets.

BUT.

Charlie saying “I was getting so close" instead would also connote a sense that not only has this guy been trying to figure out this particular phone number for a long time, but he may be SO psychotic that he's been PATIENTLY searching for the right combination in some sort of mechanical & orderly fashion, which would make everything just that much more terrifying while still keeping it 1) in keeping with the character 2) funny.
