If any of you people wants to write a mid 20th-century Southern gothic-style novel, you may have this opening line I've written for you::

Everybody in town always said the nonsense all began when that boy couldn't even win his own damn home state.

NO no no, it is I who am humbled, and yes you ARE quite welcome!

And it's gotta at least be better than that Eudora Welty shit anyways.
