Mount Rushmore of Sports (Sort Of)

Me & a coupla guys at work are talking about our own Sport Mount Rushmores, in this case games/events we personally witnessed live; my sports-going resume isn't nearly as prolific as anyone else's but hey I did my best anyway:

First Yankees game (4/30/98) – Mariah Carey behind the dugout, Tino hit a double in the 11th to walk off. A-Rod hit one out for the Mariners, Ken Griffey destroyed two balls.

New York Knicks (2/4/2003) – at the Garden when Sprewell went 9-9 from behind the line, a record at the time both for most w/o a miss and a Knicks 3s record

Ole Miss v. Kentucky (1/11/1997) – Ole Miss beat that legendary Kentucky team, Dicky V in the building for ESPN

Yankee Stadium (9/7/2009) – got to sit in the Legends Suite with all-you-can-eat dining, was in a food coma starting in 2nd inning

King William High School – was sitting with rest of the junior varsity basketball team watching the varsity when Marvin Croxton shot & scored a basket for the other team

Rappahannock High School, Summer 1990 – avoided a snake hole in left field for an entire doubleheader; asked our pitcher Jimmy Linkins “how do you hold your 3-run doubles?” as he was getting shellacked.

Camden Yards (7/9/2016) – won a free meal at Denny’s because Mark Trumbo hit a home run in the 3rd inning

San Antonio v. Phoenix (Spring 1992) – first NBA game, Spurs vs Suns so of course David Robinson and Charles Barley were last-minute scratches for the game 😡

King George High School, 8th grade – halftime of my first junior varsity game, a kid from my school hit a half-court shot to win $50 and I thought “wow I guess life is just always gonna be this amazing”

Ole Miss v. Tennessee (10/3/1996) – watched Peyton Manning absolutely destroy Ole Miss, the final was 41-3 and it didn’t feel anywhere near that close
