Me. I'm Really Happening, Aren't I?

I've always dreaded small talk with strangers & I've also always let myself off the hook by claiming I'm just uniquely bad at it but recently I’ve been learning to my great horror that I'm really, really great at it in elevators; the finite trip allows me to time out/control any joke/response as I'd like, and then when the person steps off the elevator I just go off in the opposite direction so we don’t hafta continue "chatting" after my elevator brilliance.
