THE NEW YORKER: The Cover Files

I’ve recently realized I’m not gonna be able to house every issue of The New Yorker from 2017 thru 2078, so from now on I’m just gonna be keeping a few with standout covers that I like; here’s the ones I’m keeping so far and yes, you ARE welcome, Earf!

I mean I just love this, it’s about as Manhattan as it gets – autumnal, fashion-forward & fun

I don’t like the aesthetic at all but I miss my bodega and there’s just something iconic about a bodega cat (ooooooh are those old, withered hand chipping away at a scratch ticket???)

This is one of the few ones where I care about the message more than the overall aesthetic; as someone who loves the magic of Christmas and also can’t remember the last time I went to a store instead of ordering Amazon, this hits home a little bit in the whole "I am part of the problem" way

This is just flat-out hilarious (and is the look supposed to remind us of the Wizard of Oz? Or is just me?) 

Normally I don’t like the confusing, bright & thin colors of this cartoon style but it’s similar to the animation for the last great Ramones song, so. 🤷‍♂️ (even though it’s a cover)

I mean camon – it’s a dog, and it’s basically me every minute of my life

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this, both because it reminds me of the Williamsburg Southside looking up at the Williamsburg Bridge, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the thick, warm colors (particularly the brown!!)

I'm already looking forward to the next batch a coupla months from now!!
