Some Hope?

Even as Trump is about to become a vicious king we're still trained to believe that historically comparing anybody to Hitler is off the table, while anyone who knows even a tiny bit about HOW Hitler rose to power via the 1933 Enabling Act understands it's a bit ridiculous to be so indignant at this point. Meanwhile Beta O'Rourke, someone who apparently is still alive, did it in a way that I think is the way to approach it:

He noted that the Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler was able to destroy German democracy in just 53 days, thanks largely to the complacency of politicians and voters.

At some point in history - history so recent there's still millions of people alive when it happened - there was someone else from before that had been so evil people that couldn't imagine there ever being anyone else who could possibly compare & then they woke up one and Hitler was building ovens. 🤷‍♂️
