A Few Thoughts on the Ken Burns AMERICAN REVOLUTION Documentary After Three Episodes, Since Nobody Asked

I wouldn’t say it’s been a tad boring so far, but I have found myself drifting away from time to time, unlike his last two – Country Music and The Holocaust – that had me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

So far, the biggest wartime achievements by the American Army seem to be logistical executions of moving large amounts of men and artillery from Point A to Point B (if the last 3 episodes are all about logistical executions of moving large amounts of men and artillery from Point B to Point A then I really don’t know if I’ll make it.)

Anyone else keep thinking they’re playing Paul Simon’s Still Crazy After All These Years on violin throughout this thing? πŸ€” I’m also picking up notes of Husker Du’s Flexible Flyer, but if I think Paul Simon getting in on this is a bit of a stretch then Husker Du has as much chance of being in it as I du.

The Celebrity Voices:
How is Martin Sheen not New Hampshire’s Josiah Bartlett?
How is Laura Linney in it, yet not as Abigail Adams? Especially when John Adams is played by Paul Giamatti?
If Lin Manuel Miranda’s not Hamilton I’m canceling my PBS, along with my yearly $50 donation (that’s right, viewers like ME!)
Although it’d be much funnier if he ends up voicing Burr.
You people know I LOVE LOVE LOVE me some Liev Schreiber popping up as a voice, since he’s the greatest narrator of all time (my list here from 2008 doesn't even include one of his best of all time, the 2010 Bird/Magic doc); hearing him with everybody else feels like Elvis joining The Beatles. Matter of fact, looking at that TINY list of the incredible docs he's narrated, now I wanna watch a Ken Burns documentary about Liev Schrieber being the king of narrating documentaries.
