I am a humble fan of the Xmastime musings and but have not often thought, “hmmm here is a situation that Xmastime would find himself in, I wonder how he would opine” that is until last Saturday when I was thinking if only I was friends with the big lug then he would be here and he would be just crapping all over himself, which obviously isn't the same thing as wondering how you would opine, but seriously what are ya gonna do.

I live in lovely Alexandria, VA and my teenage daughters attend TC Williams HS (Remember the Titans and home of this years 3A State Basketball Champs woohoo) and every year the rich folks in town get together for a medium sized gala that benefits the scholarship fund . . . . blah blah blah . . . anyway I was dragooned into going last Saturday and it was pleasant, free hooch, old as crap neighbors wearing tuxes that smelled like mothballs, decent food, free hooch. Then they start with the live auction and I couldn’t be bothered until the last item where a local fancy schmancy restaurant was offering dinner for 20 with the mayor of Alexandria as a waiter and famous TC alum Rock Harper as the celebrity chef. As you must know Rock was last years big winner of your bff Gordon’s deathmatch Hell’s Kitchen. “hmmm” I thought, “I should bid on this and ask Xmastime to come down so he could be one degree of separation away from eating a meal prepared by his bff Gordon.” Then they said the opening bid is $2500, and I lost interest completely. Which is good because I was just about to say “hey we should bid on this and I can invite this guy Xmastime down from Brooklyn . . .” “who’s that, is he a friend of yours?” “No, he writes a blog and . . . well, never mind” “???!!!???” “More wine?”

I have no idea if you find this amusing or sad or if you realize the reach your little blog has up and down the east coast of this great country of ours. Now I will go back to being a lurker.
