Why do we call someone "late" after they've died? They're dead, they're not going anywhere...what the fuck are they late for?
It's mildly insulting, no? I'd like to think that whenever I die it'd be considered early. Saying "the late Xmastime" sounds like "fuuuuuuuck, he hung in there for days, dude wouldn't fucking die already. Christ. Finally kicked it on Thursday."
