Is REM covering Pale Blue Eyes, There She Goes Again and Femme Fatale the only example of one great band covering another great band and thumping them with each of their own versions of three already great songs?

love REM, but those covers can't hold Lou's nutsack ... and i should know, cuz UG's seen it
I dig the REM versions just because I didn't grow up with the VU versions. And I don't know if a great band has covered as many as 3 of another great bands songs (aside from some tribute albums I guess), but I always preferred Hendrix's Watchtower to Dylan's by leaps and bounds
