Just for the record, I'm not holding out to save money. I'm holding out because I don't want to be one of those assholes annoying everyone with their inane cell phone conversation. I still respect the public space.
Aside from the fact that I'm single; don't have have (small) children; don't drive on a regular basis; and I'm simply just not that important to have a cell phone--who really needs to get in touch with ME that urgently?-- I too, "don't want to be one of those assholes annoying everyone with their inane cell phone conversation." (Which, thankfully, my iPod shields me from most instances of.)
