Death of the Newspaper

How hard are we supposed to be mourning the death of the newspaper? I mean, isn't that what happens when you offer the exact same shit somewhere else for free? And yes, I'm trying real hard right now to NOT make a joke re: squirrels getting fisted by hookers. And I mean it's not like the online version of the Daily News is hard to find, for computer geeks only or some such. It's listed right in the Daily News.

Picking up the paper used to be an impulse; then I realized that once I got to where I was going, the first thing I'd do was go to the online site. So what's the point? I know we're supposed to be all nostalgic about it, and that's normal, but if I could save $100 a year and still get the exact number of chicken mcnuggets, I can't say I'm too sad about it.

Can't take your daily news.com on the L train.

There's also something to the everyday ritual of buying something that costs only 50 cents.

I can't stand navigating a newpaper website. The real thing comes in sections that open and close easily and can be effortlessly transported to the bathroom. Oh yeah, you can burn them during the winter, too. Long live paper.
