I've tried to watch the NOVA episode on Fractals three different times in the last 24 hours, and each time I felt like a dog who was trying to solve Chinese arithmetic. A dog who can't count, that is. Or read. And one who can't speak Chinese, even. Or who was smart enough to find his own dog balls. Fucking hell, I thought, this is Mrs. Brook's math class all over again, me with Pi.
But then I Wiki'd fractals, and saw THIS. For fuck's sake, why didn't they OPEN with that??!??!? In particular giving us the "nine generations" line. For fuck's sake.
