I don't understand how, in huge situations like extra innings in elimination playoff games, a pitcher can intentionally walk a batter with a runner at third without making some changes to ensure some sort of "safety," so the ball doesn't slip away to the backstop. If it was me on the mound, I would say that as a manager your three choices are to place another fielder behind the catcher, have me simply roll the ball as if bowling, or watch me quiver on the mound pissing myself while my eyes roll into the back of my head. Wtf.
