Is That an Over-Sized Gavel in Your Pocket, Or Are You Just a Lying Jackoff?

Now that Boehner has the comically over-sized gavel to pound, the word "transparency" is being thrown around a lot. Boehner's big thing seems to be transparency.

In and of itself, sure, transparency is a  good thing. Sure, it's nice if everyone's privy to these bills and how they're made.

But 99% of Americans have either no interest or no time in sitting around breaking down and studying legislation.  And once Congress has been seated, how much John Q. Public understands about a bill or what he thinks of it pretty much means jackshit to Congress anyway. Instead of transparency for transparency's sake, people should be more interested in bills that are actually useful to them.  For instance, being able to read online how the GOP repealed the healthcare bill, while informative come the next election season, would have no tangible effect on anybody.  But having to shell out $50K for an operation because you forgot to tell your insurance company that you had back acne as teenager has a REAL effect on people.  In other words, we should be less interested n how the sausage is made and more interested in better sausage.

Transparency? You mean like Obama's frequent promise to broadcast the health care negotiations on CSpan? Or maybe Obama's promise to post the text of the Bills online before voting on them?

Nahhhh! You don't mean that!
