Hank

I was poking around after watching Jeter get hit #2985 to see how many people are in baseball's 3000 hit club, and, FOR ABOUT THE 900TH TIME, was reminded how overlooked Hank Aaron is when it comes to "who's the best ever?" discussions.  Maybe it's because he toiled for so long in non-New York/Boston cities, but fucking hell.  Obviously most famous for being #1 in home runs, he also has the record for RBI and is THIRD on the overall hits list (hitting .305 in a career wherein if you remove the home runs he STILL has 3000+ hits.) AND his average ended up higher than Pete Rose's!

Like Kareem in basketball, Hank almost never comes up in these talks, which is obviously quite insane - particularly in baseball, which puts a premium on sheer numbers more than any other sport.
