Happy Canada Day!

Good for Canada, which I hear is a very nice town.  It's also the 7th anniversary of the Jeter Dive Play (which, I believe, was won in extra innings on a John Flaherty walk-off hit.)

I've never realized why this play is always lumped in with other Jeterian Plays - to me it was a great play, but not "Jeter Unique."  He busted his ass and bravely dove into the stands for the ball, but I'm sure that's been done for 100 years.  I remain more impressed with the Flip Play.  Which, of course, Jeter himself pooh-poohs as being anything extraordinary.
