Perceptions Can Be Wrong

It has become de riguer to smugly dismiss the Yankees as Neanderthal bashers whose only hopes to win is to crush enough balls out of the park, while the Red Sox are made up of a noble staff of smart, stingy pitchers and lovable, undersized scrappy fielders.  And yet here were are, almost exactly halfway through the season, and Yankee pitching has given up 27 fewer runs.  Granted, the Sox have played one more game than the Yankees, but let's assume they're not going to cough up 27 tonight at Shea.
