I loved the show’s sly use of the Ouija board. In the years after World War I and the Spanish flu epidemic, when millions of people were grieving, there was a tremendous interest in spiritualism.I guess that makes sense, actually - between the Spanish Flu and WWI (or as RRTHUR calls it, "the war") there was death all around; the odds of anyone having some friends or family recently dead were pretty good, ergo there desire to reach out to them would be pretty strong.
