Life & the Onion

Sometimes, people in the public arena get caught looking stupid because they don't know the Onion is satire and they jump on some headline that of course isn't anywhere near true. Like HERE. This Onion article Every family member's birthday is now marred by tragedy is, as per usual re: the Onion very funny.

"But Xmastime", you say in the voice of Craig “Ironhead” Heyward from those soap commercials (RIP), "didn't you blog about this years ago about your OWN family?"

Why yes, faithful reader, I did:
Our birthdays:
Brothatime!!
December 8
Body count: Only one, but it was one of the greatest cultural icons in history; impossible to figure the number of lives his music saved.

Xmastime
July 14
Body count: 108 at the storming of the Bastille and another 30,000+ during the French Revolution (not even including another 230K from the Vendée.) Also died: the French monarchy.

illWill
September 11
Body count: 2,996, plus another 4,400 US soldiers (and counting) along with tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians, to say nothing of kicking off the crumbling of the American empire and a trillion dollars.

Sistatime!
April 22
Body count: our nation's unrelenting thirst to pollute our planet with no consequences (the first Earth Day)
