Watching The Grapes of Wrath, it's easy to think "oh, this is a period piece, filmed 100 years ago..." but not only are there plenty of people still alive from when it was released, the movie came out on the tail end of the Great Depression, and only a year after the book. Almost the same as the timing of the Bataan Death March, you might say.
Just seems weird, I guess. It's as if you wanted, you could watch the movie as if it was in real time.
