Your Daily Poe (Or Edgar Allan If You're Nasty)

As it's officially October (BOO!), I will on every day be reading one short story written by the Master of the Macabre himself, and briefly commenting on it. Enjoy!

Day 10: Ligeia

Thoughts: Still trying to get through the "Bereavements" section which seems to be nothing but 1) dead women 2) boring. This was a little better in that after the first dead wife there was another wife, so I thought "oooohhh, this could get juicy!" but then nothing really happened that hasn't already in other Poe stories. He managed to keep the heightened sense of dread alive longer than some of the lesser ones I've already posted about, but in the end the most exciting part was when he started a paragraph with, "One night...", that got me to tuck in for the worst, which never really happened. Also, it seemed to rely more on opium fever dreams than any other tales.

Memorable Line: People have always made fun of my for finding women with somewhat equine facial features, so I appreciated the line, "There is no exquisite beauty without some strangeness in the proportion."

Score from 1 - 10: 2. THANK GOD THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER IS UP NEXT!!!!!!
