One of Mickey Mantle's greatest regrets was playing himself out of being a .300 hitter, hanging around for a few years too many.
"But god-damn, to think you're a .300 hitter and then find yourself looking at a lifetime .298 average - it made me want to cry."
I have a feeling Albert Pujols - whose playing days are apparently over - will feel the same way as he looks back on playing long enough in Anaheim to let his career batting average fall to .298 just like Mickey.
At least Mickey was funny!
