I can’t for the life of me remember why it popped into my curiously handsome head, but my Grandma May was a life-long Red Sox fan (she thought of Babe Ruth as a pitcher ffs). And she always told us her favorite player was Carl Yastrzemski, aka “Yaz”. I’ve only now thought to realize that when Yaz made his Major League debut, Grandma May was 52 years old. 52!! She’d loved the team her whole life but it wasn’t until she was 52 that her favorite player came onto the scene in 1961. She died in 2002, so she had 41 years to enjoy Yaz being her favorite player.
So there’s always hope, people. That thing you'll love the most may still be in front of you.
