Just the other day I mentioned what a bummer it is that we missed out on a possible Buddy Holly/Beatles collaboration. Meanwhile I've just realized that while I've read a million books and seen a million documentaries on Buddy Holly I never really noticed that his funeral was on February 7, four days after his pane went down outside of Clear Lake, Iowa.
And what happened EXACTLY 5 years later, on February 7, 1964?
Not only was it the day The Beatles came to America, but they did it on a plane that unlike Buddy's made it (thankfully) to its destination. Trippy, n'est-pas? Is there some magic about that plane? Is it still around, resting somewhere in an airplane graveyard? Why is it not a museum at this point? 🤔🤷♂️
