Brooklyn @ 25

[XMASTIME NOTE] I moved to Brooklyn 25 years ago this past January; throughout the year I'll be noting things, no matter how small they are in reality, that I remember & associate with those first few days/weeks/months of living in the greatest city in the world.


On June 25, 1998 I met up with Chris Standish and practiced as The Happy Scene for the first time ever; he'd go from answering my ad in the Village Voice for a drummer ("Beginners welcome") to being my musical consigliere for the remainder of my years in Brooklyn. I can't describe how much those years of rocking together in New York City as a young man mean to me, I've forgotten so much great shit it's probably tragic, but I do know it all started 25 years ago this year, with me fresh from moving to Brooklyn USA with everything & nothing in front of me all at once.

Rock on, Dish! :) We will rock again someday, somewhere.
