It makes no goddam sense this wasn't a massive hit; it's that perfect mix of mid-60's suburban fantasy teen rebellion pulled off with juuuuuuust enough menace along with a rocking vocal on top of what was shaping up to be that era's incredibly iconic & influential garage rock.
Of course maybe the reason is that The Kinks - The Replacements of the 1960s? - probably screwed themselves by making it the B-side of Sunny Afternoon, which went on to define the Most British Summer of All Time and probably just overwhelmed I'm Not Like Everybody Else.
