Just had it carefully explained to me by a much-younger office mate that no, Chewbacca's death would not be the saddest dog funeral in history - I mean, a dog that is human size and is useful, all while still being furry et al, I mean camon! - since he is not, in fact, a dog. I for one had no idea.
