Yet ANOTHER Incredible Idea From me, Yawn

Scooter & I kicked of our The Finer Gentleman's Sunday Cinema Club with Ed Burns’ classic 1995 The Brothers McMullen, which starts with this scene:
Finbar "Barry" McMullen stands at the grave of his recently deceased father, along with his mother, who tells him that she's returning to her native Ireland to be with Finbar O'Shaughnessy (after whom Barry is named), her sweetheart of long ago. She tells Barry that while she gave Barry's father 35 of the best years of her life, she's going to start living life her way with Finbar O'Shaughnessy, the man she really loves.
Meanwhile the film’s ending includes the scene below; how great would it be if Burns has been playing some incredible long game and in 2030 he releases the follow-up in which the opening scene is repeated but this time instead of his mother it’s his girlfriend from this scene?
