Of course as soon as I saw photos from the show I checked out the setlist, letting myself get a little excited wondering what kind of treats would Paul have for this 575-person crowd that he can’t really do for his usual 75,000 fans stuffed into a gargantuan stadium, and was surprised in that despite the (much!) smaller venue, he stuck to pretty much his usual set of gigantic warhorses (which we talked about last year), even ending with the Abbey Road medley, which I’ve never really pictured in such a small setting.
Oh well - I was a LITTLE disappointed in the lack of genuine surprises in the setlist but let’s be honest, if I’d have been there it would’ve been the greatest night of my life and it would be tattooed on my forehead so I’d never forget to tell you people about it every chance I got (I mean ffs look at how small that room is).
BUT!
As you may have noticed in my post just below, he’s surprising everybody with a second show tonight, so that will be the real test – now that he's already laid down a version of his usual "I have come to destroy you with my greatness" set at the Bowery, will he throw out some little-played gems for such a small crowd on a second night?
I WILL LET YOU NICE PEOPLE KNOW AS SOON AS I FIND OUT!
