On Evelyn Waugh's THE LOVED ONE
Moi Say moi, last February:
There's like a 10% hope in the back of my brain that someone will accuse the end of my second novel THE WEDDING PARTIES of reminding them of an Only Fools and Horses ending the late great John Sullivan would have written; in reality I think my best hope is that someone will think it reminds them of the end of Evelyn Waugh's The Loved One. 🤔 🤷♂️
And shortly before that I'd wondered if Paul Westerberg had gotten the final verse for Bastards of Young from Evelyn Waugh.
Aaaaaaaaaaaand now we see in the latest New York Times - or a s I call it, "The Times" - that the intellectual geniuses over at The Gray Lady are finally catching up to me and desperately choking on the muffler of excellence that is Xmastime's wake.
