Beginning

I was reading something today about a guy that got run over by a truck, and in telling the story the narrator had me instincting a run-up that in viewing the accident she had seen the last moments of this guys life. But the author said something I had never considered before:

It was the first few moments of someone's death.

If you believe in an afterlife, you were witnessnig the first moments of that. And if you DON'T believe in an afterlife, you were witnessing the beginning of that too - the beginning of eternal nothingness. Either way, being there for the first moment must be a powerful thing.
