I was under the impression that DeWitt Clinton had come up with the Manhattan street grid system (which apparently turns 200 today), but according to this really cool interactive map, it was some guy named John Randel.
I went to the Harvard on the Appomattox and the New York Times didn't, so I'll stick to actually knowing the facts while you enjoy the map, fuck you very much.
