Swish!

As you already know, I gave Nick Swisher a lot of credit for the Yankees 2009 World Series win in that he gave them a personality transplant.

So it was nice that he was greeted so well during his first trip back to the Bronx as an Indian:

The warm ovation Nick Swisher received from the Stadium fans when he came to bat in the first inning —causing him to step out of the box to gather it all in — would have been enough.

Still, the former Yankee was hoping for more, hoping for a chance to salute the right-field fans one more time. And he got that, too, when the Bleacher Creatures chanted his last name upon his manning first base in the bottom of the inning.

Swisher was a popular figure during his four seasons in the Bronx, as he regularly saluted the Bleacher Creatures during their first-inning roll call of the team’s defensive alignment. Lyle Overbay, who made his first start in right field for the Yanks, mimicked the military-style salute, he said, at the request of some of Swisher’s former Yankees teammates.

That got to me. I'm not made of stone, people!
