Dammit by Blink 182 presents an interesting case to me. On one hand, this is a band that quickly came to embody what was wrong with "rock" at that time - formulaic, by the numbers stupid faux punk rock made to sell skateboards. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure this is the last record I ever bought based on MTV. It helps that of course this came at the tail end of when MTV actually showed music videos. And when dudes with guitars were allowed in said videos. But while the song is actually a pretty cool song, I remember buying the album cause the video was really funny. Music video comes on, decent song, makes me laugh, I buy the album. 1997. When will that ever happen again?

Is this before they could afford tattoos? But yeah, it's a good song that I never knew who sang or what it was called.
