Rock Salt

In areas where there's a lot of snowfall, wouldn't it make sense to somehow incorporate rock salt into the asphalt in roads? That doesn't seem impossible, does it? Shit melts immediately. No need for costly snowplows or huge piles of snow along roadsides. No delays in bustling lives.
